Mental Health First Aid Training Workshops

CBH Care now offers Mental Health First Aid Training Workshops to help organizations, schools, workplaces and community groups learn how to provide initial help and support to individuals who may be developing a mental health or substance abuse problem, or experiencing a crisis. Mental Health First Aid Training teaches a critical skill set you can provide to your community to help end the stigma surrounding mental illness.

CBH Care offers two different workshops:

  1. Mental Health First Aid for Adults
Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.
  2. Youth Mental Health First Aid
Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people: parents, teachers, school staff, and peers on how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Each 8-hour workshop is led by a certified instructor and taught at your location. CBH Care offers a one-day, 8-hour workshop or a two-day, 4-hour workshop options. Participants will learn skills that will help them take the first steps towards reaching out and providing initial help and support for the individual.
