CBH Care Receives 37 $50 Gift Cards to Distribute to Residential Program Participants

During the holiday season, CBH Care distributed 37 gift cards to adults and children in their various residential programs across Hudson and Morris Counties, as well as out-patient consumers in Hackensack and Lyndhurst partial care programs. Each of the $50 gift cards was donated by The Whole Woman, LLC. at a charitable event in December organized in collaboration with the office of Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton.

The gift certificates were donated during The Whole Woman’s annual fundraiser and toy drive, held at the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, NJ.  Amongst the 200 guests present at the gala were CBH Care’s Development Associate Denise Morelli, New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way, the honorable Vivian Sanks-King and Reverend Gregory J. Jackson, Senior Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack, NJ, who received a lifetime achievement award during the event.

“The Whole Woman partnered with Sheriff Cureton to identify beneficiaries for our 2019 annual toy drive and fundraiser. We were pleasantly surprised to learn about CBH and the work you do in our community. As access to healthcare and education is the platform for TWW, we immediately knew that CBH was a perfect fit. Too often mental health care is neglected. Thank you for all the care and service you provide," said Natalie McKenzie, CEO of The Whole Woman.

“We so appreciate the generosity of The Whole Woman, and so do our consumers, especially during the holidays,” said CBH Care Executive Director Sue Devlin. “The Whole Woman, LLC has been doing great work raising money for years to benefit organizations like ours and the Hackensack University Children’s Hospital has been a past beneficiary of the toys they’ve collected.  We appreciate their partnership, as well as the partnership of Sheriff Cureton.”

CBH Care’s after school programs offer adolescents an intensive structured program to address serious emotional and behavioral issues. CBH Care residential program participants have staff on hand at their facilities 24/7 to assist with mental or physical health crises. They strive to work with the children in their community which then may eliminate the need for a more restrictive out-of-home setting. Those who cannot afford to pay for this extensive treatment themselves are paid for by grants from the state, Medicaid, and donations to CBH Care. Services are on a sliding scale and no one is ever turned away because they cannot pay for services.

The Whole Woman, LLC is designed to inspire all women through a series of wellness experiences. They have hosted an annual charitable event benefitting Bergen County charities and mental health agencies since 2012. This year’s event raised over $18,000, with all profits going benefitting Never Along Again Resource Center for victims of domestic violence.  Guests also donated hundreds of toys, that were subsequently delivered to Community Baptist Church in Englewood, NJ for their Toys On The Alter program for underserved youth.
