Gratitude: Enrich Your Life - Improve Your Health
Gratitude is an emotion similar to appreciation. The American Psychological Association (n.d.) more specifically defines this phenomenon as a sense of happiness and thankfulness in response to a fortunate happenstance or tangible gift.
Learn a variety of gratitude practices and how you can incorporate them into your life and your community. (1-1.5 hours)
When we express gratitude and receive the same, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions, and they make us feel 'good'. This can have a positive effect on all aspects of our well-being: psychological (i.e. -more aware/more awake, increased self-satisfaction), physical (I.e.-better sleep/wake cycles, stronger immune system), and social (i.e. – better communication, stronger interpersonal relationships).
